In AVONEX CHAMPIONS 10, the rate of clinically definite multiple sclerosis was reduced in the immediate MS treatment (IT) group compared with the delayed MS treatment (DT) group over 10 years.1

IT and DT Groups
In the CHAMPIONS extension study following the pivotal trial:1 
Patients were offered, but not required to take, AVONEX 30 mcg IM once weekly Patients who started AVONEX at the beginning of CHAMPS, were categorized as the immediate therapy (IT) group Patients who were categorized in the delayed therapy (DT) group were on placebo during CHAMPS and then started therapy at their second attack or sometime after the CHAMPS study was completed The IT and DT groups included patients regardless of therapy The median time to treatment initiation in the DT group was approximately 2.5 years
IT (0.17) vs. DT (0.34) (p=0.02).
FDA-approved labeling includes up to 3 years of clinical data.
