Monitoring Your Progress
Because multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic condition, working with your doctor to monitor your progress is a vital part of your treatment plan. To evaluate your condition and how you're doing on AVONEX, your neurologist will look at a number of different factors in addition to reviewing MRI scans made by your radiologist.
Yearly MRIs and regular doctor's exams are a vital part of your treatment as they give your neurologist a chance to see how effective your medication has been at delaying the progress of any silent MS activity that can damage your central nervous system (CNS).
Evaluating your treatment
In addition to MRIs and physical exams, your doctor may also perform an EDSS test to help evaluate your treatment with AVONEX. The EDSS test measures the degree and severity of physical disability you may experience with MS.
One of your main goals should be to delay physical disability progression and reduce flare-ups. That’s why it’s good to know that AVONEX has been FDA approved to do both. Learn more
