Getting Started With AVONEX Injections

Learning to take your weekly AVONEX injection takes training and a little practice. That's why it's so important to get proper training right at the start from your healthcare provider. You can also get training from an AVONEX ActiveNurse™.

To schedule a training session with an ActiveNurse for you or your care partner, call
1-800-456-2255. You may also contact an ActiveNurse anytime after your initial training—whenever you have questions or concerns about taking your weekly AVONEX injection.

Choose the option that works for you

AVONEX is available in three different forms, allowing you and your doctor to choose the one that works best for you. Whichever form you and your doctor decide on, you'll have the benefit of the only once-a-week treatment for relapsing MS.

AVONEX PEN® is a single-use, prefilled autoinjector that uses a covered needle that's 50% shorter than the standard needle for AVONEX Prefilled Syringe. With AVONEX PEN, you take AVONEX with one click, once a week.

AVONEX Prefilled Syringe lets you inject your weekly dose of AVONEX manually. If you have a care partner helping with your injections, the AVONEX Prefilled Syringe has a larger range of possible injection sites than AVONEX PEN. It's also available in two needle sizes, so you and your doctor can choose the one that works best for you.

The injection process and recommended injection sites are different for each of these forms. Make sure that you read the injection guide and instructions for use for whichever form you and your doctor choose.

AVOSTARTGRIP®  Titration Kit

People starting treatment with AVONEX commonly experience flu-like symptoms. For many, they get milder or go away over time. To help reduce flu-like symptoms during the start of your treatment, your doctor may recommend you build up to a full dose of AVONEX gradually over the first month, using a process called "titration."

In a clinical study of healthy volunteers, people who titrated AVONEX experienced fewer, milder symptoms. The AVOSTARTGRIP Titration Kit was specifically designed to help you titrate with AVONEX Prefilled Syringe.
